Animation History through the 90's

Animations In The 90s
This era saw the start of some of the modern 2D cartoon style that progressed through the 90s and into the early 2000s through shows like The Simpsons and what i like to call the golden age of cartoon network.

The Simpsons
Now an iconic Show the The Simpsons, created by cartoonist Matt Groening (and named for the members of his immediate family except for Bart, which is an anagram for Brat), first appeared in 1987 as a series of 30-second spots produced for the Emmy Award-winning variety series The Tracey Ullman Show.
The Simpsons premiered as a half-hour comedy series January 14, 1990. Acclaimed by critics and fans alike as one of television's truest and most hilarious portraits of the American family, the series received the 1990, 1991, 1995 and 1997 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.

Ren and Stimpy
Created by John Kricfalusi
The series follows the adventures of title characters Ren, an emotionally unstable chihuahua, and Stimpy, a good-natured, dimwitted cat. It premiered on August 11, 1991

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network  is an American basic cable and satellite television channel owned by Turner Broadcasting System, a subsidiary of Time Warner. It was founded by Betty Cohen and launched on October 1, 1992.
In 1993  it started producing its own shows.
Shows like Powerpuff Girls  Dexter's Laboratory and Jonny Bravo where very big and popular while i was growing up and are still a main reference point for me with my 2d Animation.

Batman Animated Series.
This was my introduction to batman  it was Bruce Timm's attempt at relaunching Batman as a more dark character from his brave and bold days. Timm was inspired by Frank Millers 1986 comic Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

Toy Story.
The First 3D animation.
We watched a Documentary on the creation of this film the film techniques  used where impressive and are now things we take for grated in our 3D Projects. i learnt that the Catclark function i had been using for getting a smoother look on my objects.
