Uncanny Valley

Uncanny Valley:  The concept of the uncanny valley suggests humanoid objects which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit uncanny, or strangely familiar, feelings of eeriness and revulsion in observers. Great examples of  Humanoids that fall into the Uncanny Valley  are Modern humanoid A.I robots. These robots are built to look Human but lack the emotional responses we identify when we communicate with one another.

BSA 206 Week 3

This week we covered Motion graphics. We went over the evolution of motion graphics from rotoscoping. Which is the animation technique that animators use to trace over motion picture footage, frame by frame, to produce realistic action. Motion graphics is the where actors movements are recorded and the motion applied to animated characters. This technique allows us to transfer more fluid and natural movement into a digital animation format. The Following video is the creation of Gollum. In my opinion The motion capture of Gollum set the standard for modern motion graphics and Weta studio's who were behind Gollum have carried on leading the industry standard for motion graphics in film. Film is not the only industry to use motion graphics. The Games industry  has also used this technology as it allows them to achieve the level of detail consumers have come to expect form any form of digital production.

Movies that provoked a sad response.

What does the scene tell us about the narrative? What does mise-en-scene inform about the characters?   How does the camera work, editing and sound support the story? The opening scene gives emphasis of the aspect of time as it pans out and across over a collection of clocks as we get the title credits.  we then get a quick for shadowing  moment when we see the old news paper clippings pinned on the board of the Brown mansion burning  after we pan over the empty bed we see a few photos of historic figure all well know for there contributions to science then we start to pan across and see a automated system that has been neglected for awhile. This gives us a better insight into the type of character that lives in the house.  We being to see the characte...
